We are now in the midst of a worldwide pandemic outbreak caused by the novel Coronavirus known as COVID-19. COVID-19 is a highly infectious viral disease that originated in the transportation hub of Wuhan, China, and then dispersed with the movement of people across the globe. Each person with COVID-19 infects an average of two to three others, which is an infection rate greater than the seasonal flu.

After news of the first reported death within the United States from COVID-19, scattered information, quickly compiled, appeared from many sources. After receiving multiple requests from police agencies and academies for more consolidated information, TRN staff and Subject Matter Experts have created this highly-effective and easy-to-take course for public-safety personnel which organizes the most current information into accurate and context-specific life-saving information. This course both educates first responders about the virus as well as provides training and best practices for them about confronting its dangers to their person.

This course covers:

  • How COVID-19 enters the body and cells and how its symptoms often display
  • What protective gear to use while answering emergency calls
  • How to disinfect patrol cars and ambulances
  • Action recommendations for Police and EMS
  • Recommendations for 911 dispatchers
  • Why shelter-in-place controls the spread of the disease among the citizen population and protects the health of even those who do not have or will not get the virus
  • A summary of other highly dangerous communicable diseases

Because efforts from local and national authorities to stop the spread of COVID-19 are developing every day, its overall impact to humanity generally and law enforcement and first responders specifically is very fluid. Consequently, TRN will be constantly updating the course on a regular basis, and customers/users of the course will be kept informed when such updates are made available.

Each online course is developed from an 8-hour classroom-based curriculum. The average length of our online courses is 90 to 120 minutes.
